AIDS Lawsuit

The trial is underway in a case of a woman suing her doctor for telling her she had AIDS. The woman, who claims a doctor from Orange misdiagnosed her with AIDS, is on the witness stand in her lawsuit against the doctor. Charnel Riling testified in New Haven Superior Court today that she was stunned to learn about three years after she had begun treatment, that she did not have the virus that causes AIDS. She wiped away tears as she described the shock, saying she didn't know which doctor to believe. Riling is suing Doctor Karen Dufours of Orange for unspecified damages. From 1989-to-1992 she was treated for fevers, severe headaches and digestive problems for what was believed to be AIDS-related.
