Pappas Loss

Rep. Mike Pappas musical tribute to Kenneth Starr hit a sour note with New Jersey voters. The Republican was hailed in July for defending the independent counsel on the House floor to the tune of "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star." But Democrat Rush Holt turned the tables by using snippets of the song in negative campaign ads. Holt upset Pappas in the 12th district congressional r Pappas spokesman said that the ad distracted voters from the issues. Its the first public office for Holt, a scientist whose father was a U.S. senator. In other New Jersey Congressional races, the incumbents were the winners by large margins.
