Water Refund

, 11/4/98

Good news for some long Island residents. Customers of the Long Island Water Corporation will receive 12 dollar refunds and see their rates freeze for the next four years. The refunds and fixed rates come after Long Island Water received a two-point-eight million dollar tax refund from Nassau County. Most of the company's customers live in Nassau County on Long Island's south shore. Residential and commercial cutomers will receive the 12 dollar credits, while fire departments and private fire protection customers will receive 15 dollars per fire hydrant. The company has not raised rates since 1996, so customers will have paid the same rate for six years. Long Island Water is Nassau County's largest water supplier.
