Dedication for Victims

One hundred people came to Greenville Sunday to pay tribute to murder victims Leanne Fitzgerald and her two children, Ashley and Shane. Community and family members dedicated a bench, a windmill and a plaque outside of Minisink Valley Elementary School for the family members who were killed by Patrick Fitzgerald, husband of Leanne and father of the children. The tragedy happened on September 25 when Fitzgerald killed his family and then turned the gun on himself. Police are still investigating the murder/suicide and are trying to sort out the events leading up to the deaths. Leanne apparently had tried to get someone to hear her complaints about her husband's abuse. The day of the murders is noted to be the bloodiest day in the small town's history.
