Disaster Relief

Hurricane Mitch has reared catastrophy in Central America. The people in Nicaragua and Honduras were hit especially hard. At least 10,000 people are dead and many more have been buried from the mud slides and floods that occurred from the extensive rain. Relief efforts are underway around the world. President Clinton is sending Tipper Gore to tour the area next week and offer assistance. In our region, community members and organizations are working the victims of Hurricane Mitch. Five state armories in New York City and Yonkers will open to collect canned goods, bottled water, diapers, baby food and medical supplies. RNN will provide information on how the community can help and the stories of local residents who have a personal connection to Central America.
