Children's Museum

A children's museum might move out of Rockland County. The Hudson Valley Children's Museum might move out of the county if it cannot find a permanent place to relocate to when the lease expires. The museum is looking to find a larger facility and would like to move into the Hand Mansion property in South Nyack. It's current lease expires in the next year at the Nyack Seaport and the museum might go to Westchester if no facility is found. Director Elizabeth Egbert said the decision would depend on the county's financial support to the museum. County Executive, C. Scott Vanderhoef says that his budget plan includes a 32 thousand dollar contribution to the museum, but he said they couldn't buy the Hand Mansion, which is listed for eight- hundred-seventy-nine thousand dollars. Egbert said the property would be useful to expand the museum and its services for children and teachers.
