Youth Handbook Recall

A handbook aimed at helping teenagers has been recalled. The Rockland County Youth Yellow Pages is distributed to teenagers thoughout the county, but parents of teens from the Pearl River Middle School complained about the information in the book. The handbook provides information about sexually transmitted diseases and support groups for gays and lesbians. The handbook has been available since 1982 and is in its seventh printing. The middle school has students from 5th to 7th grade. Nancy Galdi, co-president of the PTA said the information seemed too mature for the level of the children in those grades. The handbook was created for students from the 6th to 12th grade. Dennis Fleming, execu received mostly positive feedback from the book.
