Louima Case
, 11/9/98
There is new information on the Abner Louima police bruality case. An F-B-I analysis reportedly says that the plunger believed to be used on Abner Louima has none of his D-N-A on it. Louima has claimed that the plunger or some other wooden stick in the Brooklyn Police Precinct was allegedly used to sodomize him. The New York Post reports that investigators seized a plunger from a locked bathroom cabinet - along with mops, brooms and other sticks around the station - and sent them to an F-B-I lab. The Post says only the plunger had D-N-A material, but it did not match a blood sample from Louima. Assistant U-S Attorney William Muller has refused comment. Carter's office has charged four officers with beating Louima after his arrest in a melee outside a nightclub on August Ninth, 1997. A fifth officer is charged with helping to cover up the attack. The case is expected to go to trial later this year.
