About 12 tons of frozen strawberries are being recalled by the Agway supermarket chain, of Dewit, New York, the Associated Press reports.
The recall includes 779 thirty-pound containers of frozen sliced strawberries distributed since July 1996. Agway has learned that the fruit came from the same supplier linked to the Hepatitis A outbreak in Michigan.
The recall is only a precautionary step, the company says, and has not been requested by state or or federal regulators.
Consumers who purchased Agway frozen strawberries are asked to return the product to their nearest Agway store for a full refund.
