New Jersey's ticket-scalper ban is in effect once again, reports the Associated Press.
An 18-month trial period allowing unlimited surcharges for concert and sports tickets expired at midnight last night. The experiment was intended to lower ticket prices by encouraging ticket agencies to enter the market in New Jersey.
Vendors argued that brokers stayed away because the state didn't allow enough of a profit margin.
Lawmakers refused to extend the trial period, saying the free market system had been a failure and only served to allow brokers to gouge consumers.
