Six children were bitten by a pit bull in a Bronx schoolyard this morning, reports WCBS' Vickie Allen.
Though some continue to insist pitbulls are safe, and not prone to violence as a matter of genetics, the dog attacked students at Junior High School 82 in Morris Heights shortly after 8 a.m., although the details of that attack were not available.
The students were taken to Bronx-Lebanon Hospital, where doctors determined that the wounds were not serious, said hospital spokespeople.
Bites were to the childrens' lower legs but none were deep enough to hit arteries.
Rabies are not a concern, officials said.
Police are looking for a brown pit bull with black spots.
