Policeman Kills Girlfriend, Then Self In Apparent Jealous Rage

Frightened passersby dove for cover last evening when an off-duty police officer shot and killed his girlfriend on a busy Queens streetcorner, then put the gun to his head and blew his brains out.

Police say the 27-year-old officer had thought his girlfriend was talking to another boyfriend on a streetcorner telephone, and killed her in a jealous rage.

Police have not released the name of the officer or his girlfriend.
