A Riverhead woman is being charged with killing a popular high school student in a jealous rage, over losing her boyfriend, reports WCBS' Jody Fisher.
Suffolk District Attorney James Catterson Junior says 20-year-old Kalila Taylor was angry that her boyfriend was leaving her, for Curtisha Morning, who was a 17-year-old homecoming queen.
Catterson says Taylor became a suspect in Morning's murder within two weeks, of the girl's body being found March 25th, 1996, but he had to wait for DNA evidence to come back.
The DA says that DNA is going to play the most prominent role in this case, but because the forensic lab was busy with DNA testing of victims of the TWA Flight 800 crash, it could not immediately work on the Morning murder.
