A proposed dress code for teachers in Lower Camden County is causing a stir in the educational district.
The policy would require men to wear either a shirt and tie, a shirt and jacket, or a sweater. Dresses, skirts, or slacks outfits would be mandatory for women. Sneakers would not be allowed. There would be exceptions for gym, shop, art or home economics teachers.
Superintendent Michael Schreiner tells the "Philadelphia Inquirer" that students need and deserve the very best role models.
Teachers union president Ron Calvano says the proposal seems to be treating the educators as children.
The school board could vote on the policy as early as its June 23rd meeting.
