A Manorville, Long Island man has pleaded guilty to a plot to kill Suffolk Republicans with radioactivity.
Forty-three-year-old Joseph Mazzuchelli pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy. He's expected to get three to nine years when he's sentenced July 21st.
The Suffolk District Attorney's Office says Mazzuchelli has agreed to testify against 48-year-old John Ford of Bellport - the alleged mastermind in the plot.
A third man - Edward Zabo of Medford - was said to have supplied the radium. He pleaded guilty on October 29th in return for no jail time.
Prosecutors say Ford wanted to kill Suffolk G-O-P Chairman John Powell, County Legislator Fred Towle and Brookhaven Public Safety Director Anthony Gazzola. Ford was angry with the politicians for interfering in his Long Island UFO Network, the DA's office said.
Police say Ford was going to have radium planted in the cars and homes of the politicians; this was supposed to cause them to die from radiation exposure.
Ford is being held at the County Jail on $500,000 bond.
