Delta Plane Takes Off From JFK After Scare

By Newsradio 88 Staff

A Madrid-bound Delta plane carrying 170 passengers finally took off this morning from Kennedy Airport after authorities kept it grounded overnight to investigate a message on a bathroom wall.

Delta said the plane departed at 8:16 a.m.

Passengers were questioned by the FBI but none were arrested, police say.

The FBI in Atlanta is now interviewing people at the airport that would have had access to the plane.

Police said that a passenger had seen a message on a wall in one of the bathrooms of the plane and notified the pilot. The plane had been scheduled to fly from Atlanta to Madrid Wednesday night.

Police would not reveal the language or nature of the threat, other than to say: "It was very short contained language that could reasonably be interpreted as constituting a threat and we're leaving it at that."
