Wires Cut On Pan Am Flight May Have Been Work OfEmployees

By Newsradio 88 Staff

It may have been a labor dispute that was behind the cutting of some wires on a Pam am jet at Kennedy airport.

A Pan Am spokesman says the problem may have to do with union workers for TWA.

Pan Am rents space at Kennedy from TWA, and employs non-union maintenance employees, while TWA is a union shop.

Pan Am says passengers were never in any danger and that the Miami-bound plane would never have taken off. But sources say some of the wire may have been clipped over the weekend and the aircraft flew despite the damage.

The FBI is investigating.
