It's crunch time for Governor Pataki, State Senate Majority leader Joe Bruno and Assembly speaker Sheldon Silver. They've got until midnight Sunday to come to an agreement on rent controls.
Their aides have been working for the last 48 hours trying to come up with a compromise all three will accept when they sit down in Albany today.
The tension over the deadlock erupted into rage last evening when a crowd of about a thousand tenants shouted and banged drums outside Pataki's Manhattan office, snarling traffic for blocks. Police arrested 33 demonstrators
Governor Pataki was in his office, but didn't see the demonstration. He later told New York One his plan would protect most of the tenants.
WCBS reporter Rich Lamb is in Albany and will bring you first word of any agreement.
