Junior High Schools With Bad Marks Will "Close"

It's a first for the state.

Schools Chancellor Rudy Crew is bowing to pressure from state officials and "closing" two junior high schools that continue to perform poorly.

Junior high schools 8 in the Jamaica section of Queens and 57 in the Bedford-Stuyvesant section of Brooklyn will reopen in the fall with new grade configurations, new students , new faculty and new leadership.
