Manhattan Borough President Ruth Messinger has come up with a proposal that's sure to anger one of the city's largest unions.
During a taping of WCBS-TV's "Sunday Edition" she called for mandatory residency for all new public school teachers.
Messinger has already called for residency requirements for cops and firefighters, but this is the first time she's included teachers.
A spokeswoman for the United Federation of Teachers denounced the proposal, saying the city already has difficulty recruiting enough credentialed teachers.
