Police Arrest Man For Murder; Body Found In Ceiling

Police arrested a Brooklyn man Friday in the murder of a beautician. Her decaying body was found in the ceiling of a Bedford-Stuyvesant brownstone.

Police say Kirt Nicholas was an acquaintance of 27-year-old victim Maudlyn James, who had been missing since April 21.

Neighbors in Ms. James' building on Bainbridge Street noticed a foul odor and called police.

Officers broke through the ceiling of the apartment next to Ms. James' and found her body between the ceiling and roof.

The city medical examiner ruled that she was strangled.

Nicholas is being charged with second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon.
