Batman Comic Gets Lots Of Bucks At Auction

A highly coveted comic book featuring the first appearance of Batman sold for an astonishing $68,500. The Batman book, Detective Comics No. 27, is considered the finest unrestored copy every offered for public sale and it brought the highest price of the sale, which saw a total of 1.7 million dollars worth of comic books and comic art, sold.

Among other top lots were rare and historic examples of original artwork from the so-called "Golden Age" of comics, including Fred Ray's original cover artwork for the earliest Superman cover ever to appear at auction. Superman No. 17, sold for $36,800.
