City Councilmember Says Cops Should Focus On Poor Drivers

Dangerous drivers--not parking tickets--should be the primary focus for city cops.

That from City Council member and mayoral candidate Sal Albanese, who notes a 38 percent increase in city traffic deaths in the first four months of this year.

But a Transportation Department spokesman says the increase could be a one-time occurrence linked to the low number of fatalities the year before when the city was paralyzed by record snowfalls.
