Councilmember Says Police Ignore Bicycle Confiscation Law

A City Councilman is complaining police are just about ignoring a law that gives them the right to confiscate bicycles from pedestrian-terrorizing cyclists.

The law's been around for more than two years, but police have only seized 27 bicycles from messengers, deliverymen and joy riders.

East side councilman Andrew Eristoff tells the Daily News elderly people live in terror of being run down by bicyclists who ride on the sidewalks.
