The partial public takeover of the Long Island Lighting Company is one step closer.
The trustees of the Long Island Power Authority voted to support the measure yesterday, gaining congratulations from Governor Pataki.
The plan still needs the approval of the state's Public Authority Control Board and other state and federal agencies.
The 7-billion dollar plan is aimed at cutting Long Island's high electric rates by an average of 17 percent.
