The New York City Council's Parks Committee has approved a measure to rename a street honoring slain teacher Jonathan Levin.
The legislation calls for renaming the section of East 172nd Street between Sheridan and Morris Avenues in front of Taft High School, where Levin taught.
He was 31 years old when he was slain mercilessly for his ATM card, police say.
The measure to rename the street goes before the City Council for a vote on June 25th.
