Poll Says New Yorkers Feel Safer

By Newsradio 88 Staff

We've been hearing for months about how crime is dropping to historic low levels in New York City. Now comes the payoff.

Director of polling at Quinnipiac College Maurice Carroll says 75 percent of New Yorkers even feel safe in the evening. And the beneficiary of all this good feeling. is Mayor Giuliani. The poll finds most people credit him for the drop in crime.

Even subway riders are saying they feel safer. Sixty-one percent feel safe riding the subway during the day, 44 percent in the evening.
