Later today, "Cats" will establish a Broadway longevity record by staging its 6,138th performance, topping the record of "A Chorus Line."
And while creator Andrew Lloyd Webber's production company may be having financial problems, he can't blame "Cats."
It's been seen by 8.25 million people on Broadway, grossing 329-million dollars.
The show and its performers have won seven Tonys and "Cats" has employed 231 actors, making it the biggest generator of jobs in Broadway history.
A couple of other interesting facts: The production has used 1.5 million pounds of dry ice, 2,706 pounds of yak hair for wigs, 225 gallons of liquid makeup remover and more than 48,000 condoms, which are used to protect the performers' body mikes.
