Sewage Spill Taints Bronx Beaches For Summer

Beaches in Westchester County could be closed for the first weekend of summer after a large sewage spill on City Island in the Bronx.

All 26 beaches of the Long Island Sound beaches in the county -- from the public strand at Playland to some of the finest private clubs -- were expected to be closed today and perhaps through the weekend.

Preliminary tests have shown that bacterial levels are safe.
