Power Returning To Newark Airport

By Newsradio 88 Staff

Life is slowly returning to normal at Newark International Airport.

Public Service Electric and Gas has restarted power to the complex after a fire knocked out service this morning.

PSE&G spokesman George Koodray says some lights, escalators and air conditioning units remain off, but jetways and luggage conveyors are working, and planes can start being re-fueled now.

Electricity is out for 35,000 customers in the Union County area.

The New Jersey Turnpike near Exit 13 in Elizabeth is still a mess; drivers should check with Newsradio 88 for traffic reports before leaving, and with their airlines before heading out to Newark.
