Pataki Signs Off On Rent Control Bill

Governor George Pataki has signed the states rent control bill. The measure covers more than 2.5 million tenants.

The rent issue had polarized state leaders and drew thousands of tenant activists to Albany.

Except for the wealthiest tenants, the laws remain largely unchanged.
