The Reverend Floyd Flake told his Congregation today he will no longer have a divided loyalty. Flake said he is leaving Congress in the midst of his sixth term to become the full-time pastor of the Allen AME Church in Queens.
The church has just moved into a new 23-million dollars quarters on Merrick Boulevard in Jamaica.
Mayor Giuliani, the Rev. Al Sharpton and Manhattan Borough President Ruth Messinger who are all running in the Mayoral election, stopped by the church to wish him well.
Flake is the second member of New York's Congressional delegation to leave the House this year. Susan Molinari quit on Friday to become an anchorwoman for CBS News. She will co-anchor a new Saturday morning telecast with Russ Mitchell starting next month.
