Bronx Borough President Fernando Ferrer will have surgery today to remove an enlarged gland in his chest.
The 47-year-old politician's doctor discovered an enlargement in the thymus gland last week. He says the surgery is routine.
The operation will be performed at the Montefiore Medical Center's Weiler Hospital, in the Bronx.
Ferrer, who pulled out of the Democratic mayoral primary race in May, should be back at Bronx Borough Hall next week.
