As happens every year, history buffs reenact Washington's crossing of the Delaware River.
If he really did it this year, it would be an easy trip. There isn't much water.
For a time it looked like George Washington wouldn't be able to make the trip across the Delaware River, but the problem has been solved. This is the 45th year of the historic re-enactment, but the river is dangerously low because of a drought.
Robert Gerenser, who plays Washington for the first time this year, spent last night with others reconfiguring the dock in Washington Crossing Park in Pennsylvania.
It was 221-years ago when Washington and his troops crossed the Delaware to surprise the Hessians celebrating Christmas in Trenton. It may be Gerenser's first year at the helm..but he's confident that all will go well.
The launch is set for 1:00. They’ve been doing this re-enactment in Washington Crossing, Pennsylvania, since 1952. The original trip with 24-hundred soldiers and 200 horses took 9 hours because of an ice storm.
