New York City Crime Rate At The Lowest In Years

With just a few lingering days left in the year, the New York City crime statistics are positively sparkling.

The number of murders in the city decreased nearly 23 percent in the year now ending. The actual number of killings, 743, is at the lowest in years.

The murder rate is the lowest since 1967 according to the mayor .

Likewise, the number of rapes, robbery, and car thefts are down as well. The number of cars boosted was down about 14-percent, burglaries down 11 percent, and robberies down 10 percent.

But there's still room for improvement. There were still 43-thousand robberies over the year gone by.
