New Yorkers aren't even close to the people of Moscow and Tokyo when it comes to riding the rails, but they're getting there.
The city subways posted the highest ridership last year since 1972, putting New York City at number five among the world's busiest transit systems.
And ridership is expected to grow even more when unlimited-use passes are introduced in July.
New Yorker had a billion riders last year, still far behind the more than 3-billion riders in Moscow.
