Paul Simon's "Capeman" To Close, One Of Broadway's BiggestFlops

By Newsradio 88 Staff

Paul Simon's Broadway debut will go down in the record books. After fewer than 70 performances, "The Capeman" will end its run later this month as one of the biggest flops in Broadway history.

The curtain goes down on March 28. The $11 million musical about a teenaged killer suffered from horrible reviews, slow ticket sales and poor word of mouth.

And the real-life tale of Salvador Agron, who wore a cape when he stabbed two teenagers to death in 1959, became the target of protests from victims' groups who thought it glorified murder.
