There's been a shooting at state Lottery Headquarters in Newington. State police confirm five are dead. Ambulances have been sent to the scene. There are reports that a man with a nine-millimeter gun came into headquarters on Alumni Road and opened fire. The gunman then took his own life. Jim Bataglia of Hartford Hospital tells WCBS that one person was wounded when he jumped onto a moving vehicle while trying to get away from the shooter. The injuries are not life threatening.
Police are performing a sweep of the Lottery Headquarters building in Newington, Connecticut.
Bataglia says the sweep is slow-going because bodies are being found in different parts of the building. Another victim was taken to Hartford Hospital with a gunshot wound to the head.
